Tomorrow the next Skyrim DLC pack, Dragonborn, is set to release and some details have leaked early.
Before we start, I fell obliged to warn you, there may be some spoilers if you want to save yourself some surprises.
The first thing is that you can indeed ride Dragons, as speculated about before. The DLC includes an achievement called “Dragon Rider”; unlockable by taming and riding five dragons. It’s still not sure if you can ride dragons anywhere; the isle of Solstheim, where the DLC takes place, has its own map separate from the rest of Skyrim, so the isle might be the only place where you’ll be able to ride your Dragons.
About spears, the new weapons, they can only be used by enemies and if looted they’re added to the player’s inventory as arrows.
For the main storyline of the DLC, it can be started at any time, with Cultists of Miraak searching for the false dragonborn. If you manage to kill them you can loot a a note that tells you what they are doing and where they came from. You find their boat docked at Windhelm and proceed to Solstheim. There’s also a quest called “Ebony Warrior” that you’ll only be able to start if you’ve reached level 81.
A range of new shouts will be available to be learned, the most interesting of which is the one called “Dragon Aspect”. This shout creates the dragon armor seen in the trailer, gives stronger shouts, stronger melee attacks and summon an Ancient Dragonborn to fight with you when you get low on health. Can only be used once per day.
New Armor types will be available, as well as new Weapons, Spells and Enchantments. The Out Housers managed to get some massive info about these aspects.
Finally, Dragonborn will add new Dragon types and new types of enemies. Looks like the entire content will take about 30 hours to see its integrity, so it’s a pretty decent deal for a DLC that is longer of most games out there. We will just have to wait to see if the content is worth it.
