To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of both Street Fighter and Mega Man, Capcom decided to release a free, PC-only 8-bit adventure starring Mega Man himself.
After two cancelled titles, Mega Man Legends 3 and Mega Man Universe, this fan-made effort, completely supported by Capcom, is meant to be a celebration of the loved character and maybe an instrument for studying the reactions to a possible new title.
In place of the traditional robot masters “The Blue Bomber” will face eight different enemies from the Street Fighters series, spanning from Ryu to Blanka, each with his own special power, which can be acquired once defeated the boss, true to the series form.
The game is developed by Mega Man fan and Singapore native, Seow Zong Hui. Capcom funded development of the project, provided creative input and direction, handled QA, marketing, sorted out legal clearances, and handled distribution via Capcom-Unity.com
The game is set to be available for free on December 17th at Capcom-Unity.
Down below you can check the official trailer, created by Capcom-Unity’s own Chris Antista, in all its 8-bit glory. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a date to mark on the calendar.
