“Can you tell us a release date for Cyberpunk 2077?”
“Of course: when it’s ready”
“CD Projekt… we love you”
CD Projekt has released the promised trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 with some extra information regarding the game. Cyberpunk 2077 is the take of the studio on the possibility that technological advancement may change drastically our lives and society.
Body augmentations have increased social problems, bringing great disorders which can be stopped only by an also enhanced “Psycho Squad”. The Psycho Squad specializes in combating “psychos”; individuals who overuse implants and substances that boost or otherwise alter the human body.
In the game, players will take the role of a Night City’s citizen who is trying to survive an adrift world. The city is full of drugs, violence, poverty and exclusion. A new drug has managed to fill the streets; the Braindance. A new way to experience the emotions of someone else.
What you can do with this new process is “stream a braindance directly into your neural system via special brain augmentations”. This allows the viewer to “experience all brain processes registered, including emotions, muscle movements and all stimuli perceived by the recording person”. There are different types of braindances, some created by megacorporations are simple and others, created illegally in the underground for the black market, more controversial and extreme.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a multi-thread, nonlinear story, with a sandbox layout. The player will have access to all sorts of guns, implants, gadgets and other general and still unknown equipment.
The release date is pretty far, 2015. This is the very example of a teaser trailer. The game is infact in a really early stage of development and CD Projekt adressed the matter and explained “we will release Cyberpunk to you when we’re convinced it is nothing but pure, refined, unadulterated awesome. We want it to be the most kick ass futuristic RPG ever (ok, maybe this sounds pretty bully), but it is our actual goal. And you may wonder why we announced our game so early before the release. The reason is that we’re still building our development team. So if you are a talented dude or dudette, willing to work in a really different company on a super ambitious project, send us your application”.
This sounds pretty awesome and CD Projekt is undeniably one of the best development studio around, so if you can apply for the job, this is a great opportunity. Maybe when we’ll be playing the game you might say “I did that!”.
