In a recent interview with Eurogamer, the managing director of CD Projekt RED, Adam Badowski, spoke about the multiplayer side of the upcoming futuristic sci-fi RPG Cyberpunk 2077.
“It will be a story-based RPG experience with amazing single-player playthroughs, but we’re going to add multiplayer features”.
Comparison with the other big franchise of the company, The Witcher saga, is inevitable. The new game will have the same open world format, but without the inclusion of a specific hero like Geralt of Rivia will allow for a typical character creation process at the beginning of the game. With the inclusion of different classes to choose from.
The developing process is still at the early stages, with the “main” team still working on The Witcher 3, and the Cyberpunk 2077 team starting to grow and design a very early form of the game, becoming eventually the new “main” team after The Witcher 3 completion. But Badowski reassured that there are no “primary” and “secondary” teams; “We have two leading projects, and they are the two hearts of our company”.
Cyberpunk 2077 will be a PC and next-gen consoles game just like The Witcher 3. The last one is confirmed to be on PS4 and probably the next Xbox; and it’s logical to think that it will also apply to the first.
