No Single Player DLC Planned For Tomb Raider

During a “Ask Me Anything” section on Reddit, Karl Stewart, Crystal Dynamic’s global brand manager, explained that “There are currently no plans in place for any Single Player expansions. All of our DLC is based around the Multiplayer experience for now”.

All the efforts are going to focus on the multiplayer portion of the game; with the release of various map packs. The first of these maps, “Caves & Cliffs”, was released as an Xbox 360 timed exclusive this week; with a subsequent release on PC and PS3.

What a wonderful news; you can safely play the game knowing that the story you’re experiencing is fulfilling, complete, in line with the character; no stone left unturned for marketing sake. A behavior that needs to be praised and rewarded. It builds hope for the future and consolidates a loyal customer base that doesn’t feel exploited and will trust the company.

From now on everything will converge in the next Tomb Raider game. There are very few companies I trust in the gaming industry (and I am very sad about it), and when one of them doesn’t try to milk money from me is a relief. I was already a fan of the new Tomb Raider game and Crystal Dynamics; now I feel respect towards them, after they showed respect giving me a full game for a full price.

An example for all character driven stories, and games, that I hope will be embraced more in the future.
