Microsoft announced the new Xbox One. Get a breakdown of everything that happened during the reveal below.
Xbox One, one name for a console, a Kinect, a TV and on-line services
The system can switch between TV, the home screen, turn on, just by saying “Xbox On”, “Watch Tv” and other voice commands. It also has Skype built in with group video calls on TV. This can be used in what is called Snap Mode, which allows you to use multiple programs at once on Xbox One without switching between them manually, using its three operating systems and a dedicated architecture.
Xbox One’s Live TV service will only be available in the United States at launch, with Microsoft anticipating global scale over time, the Live TV will enable you to navigate and watch live TV from your cable, telco or satellite set-top box through your Xbox One. The service will not be supported out of the box; Xbox One Live TV will require a separate supported receiver device with HDMI output to work.
The system contains USB 3.0, WiFi direct, Blue-ray, and 64 bit architecture with 8GB of RAM.
Kinect is redesigned to respond to voice and gestures with 2GB data per second calculation capacity, and the new sensor comes with each system and runs in full 1080p for Skype voice calls, videos and photos.
The Xbox One controller is updated with 40 design innovations. Retaining most of the original design, with new dynamic impulse triggers, with vibration support inside the triggers themselves for instant feedback on the “trigger fingers” and a new D-pad.
Smartglass is now a native part of the platform.
Xbox One will have 300,000 servers for the Xbox Live service. Content is stored in the cloud. All of it. Movies, saves, etc .A dedicated game DVR will be inside to save to the cloud with native editing and sharing tools.
Achievements are dynamic and will change. You can search for a match in gaming while you browse, play another game, or watch TV.
Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport 5 was announced. It will be out at launch with Xbox One and more on the game will be revealed during E3 2013 next month.
Remedy announced a new title called Quantum Break, and Microsoft Studios has been investing in new and original IP, and has more in development than any other time in history. Fifteen exclusive games will be out in the first year, eight of which will be new IP.
A Halo live action TV series for Xbox One, produced by Steven Spielberg, was announced during the games’ presentation.
The new Call of Duty: Ghosts was presented. The DLC available for the game will be a timed Xbox One exclusive.
On the Xbox One games must be installed on the hard drive and can be installed in segments so that gameplay can start immediately, and updates will be downloading in the background. Players can also save and store their profile, games and entertainment in the cloud to access them anytime, from any Xbox One console. Every game disc will have to be authenticated for each profile on the console, if you want to play with another profile you’ll have to pay the FULL price for the entire game again! If you want to lend your game to a friend for a few days he can’t sign-in with your account then he will have to pay for the game. All this is possible because after the first installation the actual disc is useless, all games will be installed on the hard drive.
In addition, existing Xbox Live Gold Membership for Xbox 360 will seamlessly carry over to Xbox One, and users can expect the following new features:
Smart Match: A new Smart Match matchmaking system virtually eliminates waiting in lobbies by estimating wait times and finding people you want to play with while you are enjoying other activities.
Game DVR: A dedicated Game DVR captures and accesses your gameplays, all saved to the cloud, along with sharing tools.
Living Games: Dynamic, living worlds evolve and improve the more you play, and advanced artificial intelligence can learn to play like you, so friends can play against your personal “ghost” file.
Expanded achievements: A new and expanded achievements system captures video of your epic moments, continues to grow a game’s achievements over time and rewards you in new ways, and your Gamerscore carries over from Xbox 360.
Xbox SmartGlass: Xbox SmartGlass is natively part of the Xbox One platform, built in from the beginning with the ability to quickly render content directly onto your device, and now more devices can connect at one time for multiplayer and shared entertainment.
